“The chance to examine one's own behavior and influence was as valuable as the more technical lessons.”
FROM 10,000 FEET | Tuck provides a broad span of business topics—all equally important for good leaders; however, having the chance to examine one's own impact, behavior and influence as part of communications and interactions was as valuable and just as insightful as the rest of the more technical lessons.
A-HA MOMENT | During the sessions, my greatest a-ha moments came from these mantras: 'Communicate, Communicate, Communicate' and 'Plot the data, plot the data, plot the data'. Marshall Goldsmith’s session had the most lasting impact, simply through sharing a series of highly significant observations about the traits required for good leaders, such as eschewing the need to always be right and to always add value. The experiential sessions provided an opportunity to demonstrate leadership in unfamiliar territory, yet at the same time generate confidence and trust in those who needed to rely on the support of others for success.
THE TAKE-AWAY | The opportunity to take three weeks away from the office, and escape from the day-to-day operations, in an environment conducive to learning and experimentation with new tactics, in a like group of equally minded and dedicated professionals, is an amazingly refreshing and enlightening experience!
