Richard O. (Rocky) Kimball

Richard O. Kimball, Ph.D., is a teacher, consultant and executive coach. Recognized globally as an innovator and expert in experiential learning methods, Dr. Kimball is founder of Action Learning Associates, Inc. ALA is dedicated to helping organizations achieve competitive advantage through programs that link team and leadership development to business strategy.
Dr. Kimball enjoys working with business unit leaders and teams at the top. In the 1990’s, he worked directly with every Texas Instruments business unit president to deploy global team alignment. Dr. Kimball and the ALA team also work on such custom engagements as the UBS Senior Leadership Conference, the Weyerhaeuser Leadership Institute, and NCR’s Leading People for Peak Performance.
Prior to founding ALA, Dr. Kimball was a Workout Consultant and Change Acceleration Program Coach for General Electric during Jack Welch’s tenure. He has also been a faculty member and executive coach at the Center for Creative Leadership. His work in education and executive development has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, Entrepreneur Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and others. Recently, he contributed a chapter entitled “Using Experiential, Action-Oriented Learning for Executive Development” to The Future of Executive Development (Executive Development Associates, 2005).
The International Association of Experiential Education has presented Dr. Kimball with the Kurt Hahn Award, its highest honor, for his lifetime contributions to the theory and practice of experience-based learning.
Rocky Kimball teaches in the Leadership and Strategic Impact Program and the Tuck Executive Program.
