William F. Joyce

Professor Joyce helps companies successfully navigate through change. He has served as a consultant on the two largest change initiatives in business history: General Electric’s Work-Out process, where was responsible for interventions that transformed major aspects of the strategies, structures, and systems within GE; and on General Motors’ GoFast! project.
Professor Joyce also teaches executives and consults for other organizations around the world, including firms from the high technology, telecommunications, government, and financial services sectors such as General Electric, Allied-Signal, Upjohn, 3M, ING, Aetna, Citibank, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
His best-selling book, What Really Works: The 4+2 Formula for Sustained Business Success (co-authored with Nitin Nohria and Bruce Roberson), explores the management practices that can significantly affect a company's performance, and identifies behaviors that support excellence in each practice.
He is the author of several other books, including Megachange, and numerous articles on strategy implementation, organizational design, and cultural change. His articles have appeared in leading academic journals such as Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Journal, Human Resource Management Journal, and Organizational Dynamics, where he serves on the editorial board.
